Trying to maintain frizzy hair is not everyone’s cup of tea. In fact, it’s especially annoying when we want to style our hair before work or any important event. Thus, in order to save some time, most people resort to straightening their hair instead.
Needless to say, hair straightening has a few dos and don’ts we ought to consider. For example, exposing our hair to heat will only damage it further, so figuring out how to make frizzy hair straight but avoid such consequences at the same time is essential. Luckily, there are a few tricks we can use right now.
How to make frizzy hair straight without any heat
Yes! There is indeed a natural way of making our hair straight. In fact, there are many methods we can use. Plus, unlike hair straighteners, a no-heat natural method will not damage our hair at all.
However, it won’t make the hair pin-straight either. If you’re aiming for a sleek and straight look, then these may not be the best options for you. Nevertheless, they are still a lot safer than hair straighteners and don’t require any special skills. Anyone can use these tricks to have a good hair day.
#1 Comb it until it’s completely dry
After washing your hair, keep combing it every few minutes while waiting for it to dry. That way, you won’t actually give your hair a chance to curl.
We recommend waiting for about five minutes between each combing session. However, if you want to speed up the process, you could do it while standing under a ceiling fan.
#2 Use a DIY hair straightening mask
Milk and Honey Mask
Things you’ll need:
- 1 cup of whole milk (or coconut milk)
- 1 tbsp of honey
Method:
- Mix the two ingredients thoroughly. Then, apply the mixture from the roots to the tips of your hair and comb it every few minutes.
- Leave the mask on for an hour (at least) before rinsing.
Milk is rich in protein, so it will make your hair thick and shiny. Surprisingly, if you leave it on your hair for long enough, it can also straighten it.
Meanwhile, honey contains antioxidants, which can prevent damage and keep the hair healthy. So, when you combine these two ingredients, you get a mask that will reduce frizz and damage. More importantly, it will naturally straighten your hair.
Milk and Egg Mask
Things you’ll need:
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 egg
Method:
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly.
- Soak your hair in this mask and squeeze the liquid out 10 minutes later. (Don’t rinse yet.)
- Leave the mask on for another half hour.
- Wash your hair thoroughly and keep combing it while it dries.
We’ve already mentioned how milk can transform your mane. As for eggs, they moisturize the hair and enrich it with nutrients it needs to stay healthy, soft and manageable.
#3 Comb it over and wrap it up
This is a relatively easy method that you can try before going to bed.
First, wash your hair thoroughly to remove all the dirt and grease. Then, while it is still wet, section your hair into two parts using a comb.
Comb the left portion all the way to the right side. If your hair is long, wrap it around the back of your head and secure it with bobby pins.
As for the right portion, comb it all the way to the left side and repeat the same steps. For best results, wrap a silk scarf around your head and sleep on it. That should reduce any frizz and give your hair enough time to dry completely.
#4 Use the power of elastic hair ties
This last method won’t necessarily make your hair pin-straight. But, it can make it less frizzy for sure.
All you need to do is tie your hair into two low ponytails using elastic hair ties. Then, tie several of these ties throughout the length of the ponytails. Leave about an inch of hair between the elastics and make sure none of them are too tight because that could create kinks in your hair.
You can remove the ties after several hours. However, we recommend doing this before going to bed, as that gives the hair enough time to lose some curls and straighten out.
Final thoughts on how to make frizzy hair straight
Opting for no-heat hair straightening is the way to go if we want to avoid damaging our hair. From DIY masks to using the tried-and-tested comb method, there are plenty of things that will conquer frizz and give us the hairstyle we’ve been dreaming of.
